We are currently working with one of the City’s leading US law firm’s branch offices in its search for an interim EMEA Finance Manager. This is a maternity leave cover and will be for 12 months. Reporting into the Head Office in the US, this is a managerial role with line reports in the London office and three of the overseas offices. It also gives financial support to a further six overseas offices.

The purpose of the role, as well as acting as line manager to the reporting team in London, is to provide financial support including payroll queries around the network and helping with any queries coming from any part of the business of an accounting nature. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, taking ownership of the financial controls, managing the bank reconciliations, monthly consolidations and maintaining control over the treasury and firm’s cashflow, ensuring adequate funding is available when and where necessary. The Finance Manager will take a lead role in the annual statutory financial reporting, liaising with the external auditors and preparing the yearend financial statements. Acting as the COFA, the role also has responsibility for maintaining financial compliance within the Solicitor Accounts Rules, HMRC regulations and any other relevant regulatory bodies. The role holder will also manage the annual budgeting process, working with budget holders within the EMEA management team and reviewing variances on a quarterly basis, making suggestions and presenting options where required to control costs. As well as producing, analysing and providing commentary on the monthly management reports there will also be occasions when they will be presented and discussed at Director’s meeting and work through any questions about the data and information being provided.

Applicants will be qualified accountants (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) and have excellent demonstrable experience within a legal finance environment. Management experience is also key and previous exposure to multi-currency / multi-jurisdictional environments is a definite advantage. Strong analytical and technical accounting expertise coupled with excellent communication skills are pre-requisites as is the ability to use sophisticated legal practice management systems (Elite or Aderant) and Excel to a high level of competency.
