Roythornes is a leading commercial law firm based predominantly in the Midlands with its largest office in Spalding.  The firm has a first class reputation in agriculture and a thriving food practice.  Other developing areas include energy, commercial and property; planning and development; residential conveyancing; tax and family. The client base encompasses some fantastic regional, national and international enterprises.  Roythornes was one of the first firms to promote non-lawyers to partnership status. It has a very good but small marketing team which focuses on marketing communications, events, digital and PR across the firm.  The firm has grown very successfully and business development has been managed historically by the fee earners, which has always been actively encouraged. Sector plans for each area have been developed and a client relationship management programme is at an embryonic stage.  One of the key aspects of this role will be to continue to develop and sell the importance of the CRM role internally.  It has ambitious growth plans across each of its areas and to achieve these successfully, the partners need the strategic expertise and input from a senior business development professional.  This person will also need to drive the projects and initiatives, in line with the overall firm strategy.

The role will advise the partnership on the most effective routes to market across each of its core disciplines and sectors. It will report directly to the Managing Partner and will form part of the management board. It will be a real mix of developing and implementing the strategy, managing existing clients and maximising those opportunities and new business generation.  This will be a client-facing role and you will need to build strong relationships across the partnership and be able to challenge and influence.  You will also look at new markets for the firm to expand into.
