The firm are recruiting a new Director of Risk.  Reporting to the CEO, this role will be responsible for managing an effective compliance and risk management framework across the firm and will provide support to the management of the firm’s own legal affairs.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Monitoring and improving risk controls across the firm having regard to changes in the legal and regulatory environment, the development of the firm’s business and other relevant factors
  • Advising senior management on risk and compliance issues generally and advising internal clients on specific project issues
  • Acting as the firm’s COLP and MLRO following successful completion of an initial 12 months in the role
  • Managing significant client and matter inception risks including processes and standard documentation
  • Dealing with client complaints and acting as primary contact with PI insurers, brokers and the SRA
  • Chair of the Risk Committee and member of the IT Steering Group

Experience in a similar role within a law firm is essential, as is a strong understanding of the regulatory environment in which the firm and its associated businesses operate.  This must be supported by extensive practical experience.  In order to transition to the role of COLP the Director of Risk will be a solicitor with litigation experience.
