Totum are delighted to have been instructed on a Head of Facilities & Operations for a leading law firm going through a significant period of positive change.  The Head of Facilities & Operations is responsible for the majority of the offices globally.  It is an exciting role providing a first class service to the Partners and also taking a lead in the Firm’s property strategy. The Head must provide strategic leadership to the team and become a trusted advisor to Partners and will need to influence, persuade and sometimes challenge Partners, as well as serve them as ‘internal clients’. In addition to managing the team, the Head will also work with Business Support Directors and manage relationships with key external suppliers and advisers.

The Head reports to the Managing Partner and the Executive Committee of the Firm (ExCom) which is a committee currently made up of the four Heads of Division, the Managing Partner, three other Partners and the Non-Executive Director. It is chaired by the Senior Partner. There is also a Partnership Council.

This is an opportunity to take the role to another level: success will be measured by the delivery of key infrastructure projects to support the Firm’s overall strategy.

The successful candidate is expected to have proven experience in a senior Facilities & Operations position within a law firm or other professional services organisation and be familiar with partnership dynamics.  He/she is likely to be educated to at least degree level and must be comfortable working in an intellectually demanding environment.

He/she must be able to demonstrate significant experience and success in:

  • Leading an effective Facilities & Operations team in a complex, global professional services environment.
  • Planning and strategy development
  • An understanding of international operations and working with different cultures
  • Developing and running sizeable projects
  • Agile / connected working
  • Change management and driving through changes in an organisation
  • Contractor and vendor management
