Totum Partners are delighted to be working with a top 50 UK legal firm. An opportunity has arisen to support the Finance Director in a newly created role as a top level member of the Finance Team to provide effective leadership to the credit control and billing teams, to enable strategic foresight into the business cash flow needs and to provide knowledgeable and accurate information to colleagues and senior management regularly and as and when requested.

You will provide financial, commercial and strategic support to the business and liaise with the Finance Director and Financial Controller in managing cash flow and other finance projects. This will mean direct line management of credit control and billing teams on day to day operations and on long term projects. You will participate in, and co-ordination of, the development and maintenance of local financial policies and procedures compiled from time to time in accordance with international and or local requirements. The role is also responsible for meeting with partners on a regular basis to review and discuss all WIP and AR balances, documenting outcomes and following-up on agreed actions and ensuring all possible steps are taken by departments to achieve their monthly and annual billing and cash collection targets. The Head of Working Capital will also assist Partners and Fee-Earners with pricing of legal services and understanding and maintaining profitability of the various types of work undertaken across the firm. You will Cascade financial information down to the Billing and Credit Control Teams and this should be dealt with in a timely and accurate way and use ARCS2G for updating AR notes and reporting of monthly billing promises from partners. You will liaise daily with the Legal Billing Team and the Credit Control Team with regard to delivering special billing arrangements needed to ensure complete client care and will also support the Credit Controllers by ensuring debt collection information is passed on in a timely manner and the correct follow-up treatment is applied to instructions.

Applicants must have a sound knowledge of a law firm's practices and procedures. You must be organised and detail orientated individual with a high level of computer literacy with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft suite, Elite Enterprise, ARC2G and Carpe Diem. You must also have excellent soft skills including the ability to influence stakeholders. The role requires an analytical and strategic approach and a high degree of commercial acumen.
