A chance to join a firm who want a fresh look at their business development and marketing function

It is very rare that you get both of these two things – a chance to join a firm who want a fresh look at their business development and marketing function and for that firm to already be enjoying considerable success.

A newly hired Director of Business Development will deliver a strategic approach to marketing and business development both to increase and enhance the firm’s reputation, relationships and revenue. This is a pivotal and high profile position within the firm, working directly with senior stakeholders to encourage and develop their strategies for developing new clients and maintaining existing relationships.  They will also take charge of the management of the firm’s brand in line with the firm’s vision, business plan and commercial objectives.

The person will join a progressive, entrepreneurial law firm very much in growth mode and proud of its reputation for commercial pragmatism and the personalised service it provides, with partners having a high degree of client engagement.

Key areas of focus for this role include:

  • Identification and development of the firm’s strategic vision both externally with clients and competitors and internally with partners and staff.
  • Development and implementation of initiatives to grow the firm’s profile and brand.
  • Analysis of markets and liaising with heads of department on the development of business areas.
  • Assessing, developing and delivering significant business opportunities such as key clients and “next” areas of business opportunity.
  • Identifying and developing the firm’s place in the market, understanding its competitors and their offerings and devising strategies to “position” the firm within its chosen areas.

This role will suit someone with significant experience in a comparable role within professional services (law firm experience would be of considerable interest). The firm needs a naturally confident leader and strategic thinker who demonstrates credibility and influence among senior stakeholders and approaches all tasks in an enthusiastic and passionate way. Applicants need to be first class communicators with excellent project management ability and familiar with the latest skills and thinking across business development, client relationship management, social media and digital marketing.
