The firm are looking for a talented Director of Knowledge Management to join their senior leadership team, reporting to the firm’s Chairman. This newly created role will take the lead in developing and implementing the organisation’s Knowledge Management Strategy, advising key stakeholders on knowledge management and overseeing the management of information across the Firm.  This is an exciting opportunity to shape and influence the delivery of knowledge management across the Firm.

Some of the key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:-

  • Providing a strategic view on the further development of knowledge management systems and practices and taking the lead in implementing new ideas and solutions
  • Keeping abreast of emerging technologies, knowledge and information management trends and related innovations and, in conjunction with the firm’s IT function, ensuring that the firm has appropriate and integrated systems
  • Managing and developing the firm’s PSL and Library and Information teams
  • Acting as an ambassador and figurehead for knowledge within the Firm
  • Taking an active role in contributing to the continuous improvement of efficiency and innovation in the firm
  • Developing a cross firm knowledge community through facilitating communication and coordination between PSL’s, Knowledge Champions, Library and Information team, HR and Business Development teams as well as Heads of Department and generally promoting a knowledge sharing culture across the firm

The successful candidate, who is likely to have legal or other professional services sector experience, will possess many of the following qualifications and characteristics

  • Experience of heading up or holding a senior Knowledge Management functional position
  • A confident leader and strategic thinker able to assess the firm’s needs and align Knowledge Management initiatives accordingly.
  • A good understanding of technology and its potential to impact the delivery of legal services, and experience of technology projects.
  • An ability to motivate and persuade lawyers to contribute to knowledge and learning.
  • A consultative approach with the ability to communicate effectively coupled with the ability to listen

The role would ideally be based in Nottingham, London or Birmingham. Regardless of location, the role would require frequent travel around the firm’s offices
