The role of the Practice is to support and be accountable to the Department Head(s) in managing their department, both operationally and strategically, implementing business plans and ensuring that there is consistency as far as possible across the firm in the way the department operates. The Practice Manager should manage the operational running of the department so that the Department Head and Partners can focus on business development, client service and fee earning.

Working in partnership with the Firm's Business Services functions, the Practice Manager is responsible for the communication, management and execution of business as usual activities in their designated department(s) ensuring delivery on time, within budget and in line with the Firm's cultural principles. The Practice Manager will also play a leading role in designing and embedding cultural and structural change initiatives in their designated department(s). This role is integral to the Department Head (s) objective of running a successful, robust and profitable department thereby contributing to the delivery of the firm's overall strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An in-depth understanding of how partners and fee-earners work, both day-to-day and in relation to developing client relationships
  • Strong financial and business management acumen
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships and engender respect among key stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, ideally with experience of managing others.
  • Highly organised and able to manage the needs of both departments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse information and identify the root causes of any problems
