The role CR & Diversity Manager will work closely with their newly appointed Chief People Officer, the Head of HR UK and the Diversity & Inclusion Partners to develop, deliver and embed the Diversity & Inclusion objectives for the firm. Areas of focus for diversity & inclusion include gender, LGBTQ+, race and ethnicity, mental health & wellbeing, social mobility and working families. The role will also manage and oversee the Firm’s Corporate Responsibility programme and initiatives, including charitable giving, volunteering and pro bono. The Firm has made great strides in these areas over the last 10 years but there is still more to do to keep the momentum which has been established and to build further on this.
Suitable candidates for this role must have a real passion and commitment to this business critical area but also have a demonstrable track record in delivering tangible benefit to their organisation through the success of D&I initiatives and programmes. To achieve this candidates will need to be collaborative, persuasive and have outstanding influencing skills as well as an ability to be robust and stand one’s ground where required. People management skills is desirable as the successful candidate will also manage the CR & Diversity Assistant. Experience in professional services is seen as important, although candidates from further afield will also be considered. Given Bird & Bird’s international footprint, some global experience would also be helpful.
