Totum Partners matches the best business services talent with professional services firms and champions talent to help legal, accountancy, real estate and management consulting firms compete more effectively. We recruit across all business services functions including business development, marketing, people & HR, finance, technology, risk, knowledge management, project & process management, transformation and general management. We recruit at all levels of seniority from those starting out in their careers to those at the top including COO and CEO.

Totum is committed to equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusiveness, to providing equal opportunity to everyone in recruitment, selection, training, promotion, deployment and any other condition of employment.

Diversity, to us, is part of the fabric and culture of our business and we work hard to ensure that the initiatives we put in place improve the way we reach out to candidates from all backgrounds.

We monitor the profiles of both our team and all the candidates we meet and place. We collate this information quarterly and cross reference this analysis with information on the background of successful candidates and reporting annually. This year we have added questions on social mobility.

Since 2017, our candidate registration has been evenly split between men and women. In addition, since 2018, over a quarter of our candidates registered as Asian/Asian British, Black/Black British, or mixed/multiple ethnic groups. Please see our diversity report for more detailed analysis of our data.

Some of our initiatives include working with:

Social Mobility Business Partnership: We want to do more to help people from all backgrounds thrive at work; improving socio-economic diversity in the workplace is important to us. To make this happen we will be working with Social Mobility Business Partnership who are committed to supporting students from low income backgrounds in their pursuit of a career in business.

Race Fairness Commitment:  Totum is proud to be signed up to the Race Fairness Commitment, which was launched in July 2020. Supported by a number of law firms, internal HR and recruitment teams, plus recruitment firms like Totum, it pledges members to engage in activities to ensure equal access to opportunities for all candidates.

Job Boards: We use a flexible working job board, ‘Flexible Working People’, to advertise our part-time and flexible working roles as well as ‘Diverse Jobs Matter’ and ‘Working Mums’. We also partner with Equality Partnerships. We hope that efforts like these will all help to further open up opportunities to people from all backgrounds and communities, making an enduring contribution to improving diversity across the professional service sector well into the future.

Training: As part of Totum’s induction process, all staff attend a course to cover equality in all its many forms (including unconscious bias and generational workplaces) and we pride ourselves on delivering equality for all staff and candidates alike.

Partnerships: We regularly host events for professional services firms to include topics such as ‘Leaders of the future’, ‘Alternative Careers in Law’, ‘How to create the most diverse company in Britain’, and most recently ‘How black professionals navigate the world of business services’.

Awards: In 2019, Deborah Gray, Director, was named in the 2019 Timewise Power 50 for her and Totum’s approach to thinking creatively about using flexibility to support talent attraction and retention.
